Advice
Here are some do`s and dont`s for your wedding day. We could offer you the schmaltzy advice you find in bridal magazines, but we wont! Most weddings experience these difficulties. In no particular order:
1. Organise. Organisation is everything for the wedding day! Make sure everybody knows what they are doing. Don`t leave it to the day and hope it will go right. It won`t. On the day you should relax.
2. Timing: get the timing right. Many brides and grooms make hopelessly inadequate
guesses at timing. Don`t try to compress events -
3. What do bridesmaids do? Indeed. Most think nothing. It is an extremely rare event
to see a bridesmaid help the bride out of the limousine when she arrives at the church
(as an example) -
4. Ushers. What do ushers do? They are not the groom`s drinking posse! Their role is to help the best man with the efficient running of the wedding. They should start by directing the guests into church, insisting that they go into church if necessary. At about a third of the weddings we film, the bride is surprised to find the guests still outside church when she arrives. This is because the ushers have disappeared inside the church and given up the struggle even if they tried to begin with. They have a job. Make sure they know they have to do it.
5. Number of ushers. This is simple. Young men flock and muck about. The ideal number of ushers at a wedding is 2 or 3; then things will get done. More and they will congregate like a lost rugby team. They will be a lot less useful.
